I am 31 and looking to change careers. I've always been fascinated with how computers work, how they do all the amazing things they do. SheCodes was advertised on instagram whilst I was looking at jobs like Online Marketing and I thought "What a good skill to have." It applies to so many careers and I had some time off of work to dedicate to learning a new skill. The SheCodes Basics course has been amazing. The SheCodes Plus workshop really helped me to develop my coding skills even further! The use of JavaScript is way more intense in this one, but it shows how powerful and dynamic this language can be. This workshop has helped me realize my capability, shecodes team made it easy for us , I had a minimal knowledge of coding until I joined the workshop.
Learning to build in React came with a steep learning curve, but I overcame once I got out of my own way and tried a different approach. One thing that I can always appreciate about the way Matt and the team at SheCodes teaches coding it that there is always multiple solutions to the same problem. It helps with learning to problem solve without getting frustrated.

I had two major problems with this course. First, they don't teach you how to display the current weather and forecast in both Celsius and Fahrenheit (they only teach you how to do it for the current weather). Second, I had a full stack software engineer who also mentors software engineers review the code and he said it was really bad code. That we were taught really bad practices. Considering my only exposure to coding has been SheCodes and I followed along with Matt, I believe this reflects badly on the curriculum. I have done the entire SheCodes program, from the basics to the max workshops. They have a team that reviews the homework assignments and give you either a thumbs up or a thumbs down if it was done correctly. I have only ever received a thumbs up. I am really disappointed. The whole purpose of me joining SheCodes was to prepare myself for a career change. Now, I have to start over from scratch trying to learn clean coding practices.
I started Shecode with a zero knowledge of coding and here I am well equiped and have gain mastery of so many things I thought won't be possible for me to learn. everything I know today about front-end development I owe it to Shecodes foundation; Matt and His team am grateful.

I absolutely enjoyed the course and highly recommend it to those who'd like to learn the basics of coding. The information is provided in a very clear manner and in the amount that is possible to learn. The SheCodes team also provides a great set of additional materials that help during the study. The homework assignments were a bit challenging but also super interesting. They pushed me to apply what I'd learned and gave me that "aha" moment when everything clicked. From the moment I got started, I was captivated and enthused by the expertise of Matt and all the other instructors on Slack. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were demystified during the workshop.
