Thank you so much for this excellent introduction to React. I found this course challenging but very rewarding, and I would definitely recommend it to others. Using a different API (SheCodes Weather API) from the one shown in the videos made the learning curve steeper, but I appreciate that because we had to think for ourselves - like we will in the real world. I decided not to follow Matt's coding/file structure on the videos exactly, implementing my own ideas and trying to find solutions by myself. This meant I felt blocked a few times, but the support available on Slack is incredible. Thank you!

I really enjoyed the self-directed class format, and the information was explained in a way that made it easy to understand. The homework challenges stretch your skills since you have to find some of the information on your own, but that also helps with knowledge retention. I am so happy I took these classes, so I can understand basic coding enough to help me in my digital marketing work.
I began my Shecodes journey around this time last year, and at that point, I never imagined that I would be able to code like this!
The responsive course was eye opening to how much goes into make a webpage responsive for mobile devices but the way the material was taught made it easy to understand. Loved this project.

Having started the course with absolutely zero knowledge of coding, I feel a massive sense of achievement. The course is designed to enable participants to access lessons for manageable periods of time. The lessons were clear and well structured, as were the challenges and homework, making everything really accessible. There were great resources to access too. I struggled with keeping within the suggested timeframes but that did not deter me. Matt is a great teacher who provides positive reinforcement and recognises when some content is challenging. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and am hoping to register for the next one. I can't recommend this course enough!

Due to these courses and hands-on exercises, I am enjoying coding. While I had prior experience with HTML and CSS, the deep dive into JavaScript, with the introduction to API integration, Git, and GitHub, significantly expanded my skillset. Building a weather forecast app was a rewarding challenge that solidified my understanding. I'm excited to apply these skills to future projects and continue my journey as a web developer.
Each lesson built my confidence, especially as I saw my skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript come together in real projects. Completing the challenges and projects gave me a sense of accomplishment and motivation to keep pushing forward and I feel much more prepared to take on tech-related roles!

This cohort was easy because of prior knowledge of APIs and JavaScript. I enjoyed it, however the joke ai wasn’t that good, it would repeat jokes consecutively. I just assumed the context I applied wasn’t that thorough. Besides that 9/10 experience.
My experience at SheCodes has been nothing short of amazing. SheCodes has completely reshaped my entire narrative of my own capabilities, as I previously had very limiting beliefs about being able to code because it was something too challenging for me. As a media designer, I'm familiar with design, but backend? That was completely new territory for me! And since I work in an IT company, I also wanted to better understand how web design works. 💻 My new skills and insights: 💡 HTML, CSS, JavaScript and API basics - of course! 💡 Patience and frustration tolerance: After hours of pondering, you realize you were missing a ; 🙈 ... 💡 Self-discipline: An online course offers a lot of flexibility, but that also means you have to keep at it! 💡 Structured & creative thinking - for me, this is the key to implementing ideas and solving problems. I am particularly proud of my final project, the BreezyBlue Weather App. 🌦️ Here I was able to bring all the new knowledge together and develop a web app that retrieves data via API and displays it in the interface I created myself. That was a huge learning step for me, and it was great fun! Would I recommend the course? Definitely! SheCodes creates a great learning environment for women who want to venture into the tech world. The Responsive Web Development workshop was a game-changer for me. I learned to make any website responsive, either with Bootstrap or with media queries. This workshop is super easy to follow but at times very challenging. Matt is definitely pushing you to learn as much as possible early on, which might mean you need to redo some lessons in order to completely grasp the concepts. However, the challenges are fun and there's always help to get through the various resources available. In the end you will have completed a really cool project that definitely encourages you to move forward and learning more in the next workshops!
